In a previous post I wrote about three of my favorite homemade balms for the skin of your lips. When I finished, I realized that there were a few more that you might be interested in. The reason I like these natural and healthy lip balms is because they are so very quick and easy to make and they work just as well as the others in my other post. These lip balms are also very inexpensive to make so they’re great if you’re on a budget but still want healthy and natural lip balm for your lips.
Super Quick Homemade Lip Balm
This one is made with something I know we’re all familiar with and probably have in our bathroom and that’s petroleum jelly.
Take a bowl you can use in the microwave and put however much of the petroleum jelly you want to use. Doesn’t matter with this great homemade balm for your lips. Next heat the jelly up in your microwave. Once it’s somewhat melted you can then tint it with a small piece of your favorite color of lipstick or even use a little bit of blush or eye shadow. Take a spoon and stir it well. You may want to heat it again so it’s easier to stir. Once you have done this add a little vanilla extract, it’s up to you. However strong you want it to be.
Once it’s mixed let it cool off and then put it in a container and it’s ready to use immediately. It’s fun to make because you can make this homemade balm for your lips any color you want so it can be used as a nice healthy lip gloss as well.
Homemade Lemon-Lime Lip Balm
This one makes a great smelling natural and healthy balm that is soft and is a great moisturizer for your lips.
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of chopped up beeswax
5 drops lemon essential oil
5 drops lime essential oil
Put all of the ingredients in a small stainless steel bowl or glass bowl and then use a saucepan with water in it to place the bowl on top of. Then turn the stove on medium to medium-high and stir while the items are melting to make sure that the ingredients are mixed well. Once it’s all melted if you want to add some color just do like the previous recipe by adding a little of your lipstick, blush or eye shadow for the color you want.
When it’s done just pour it into a container with a lid and let it cool before using on your lips.
Homemade Healing Lip Balm
This homemade balm is super good for the skin on of your lips that really need some loving care. Wonderful for chapped lips and even great for the sinuses too if you happen to have a cold.
Mix all the following ingredients in a small glass or stainless steel bowl:
1 tablespoon of shea butter
2 tablespoons of almond oil
1 tablespoon of chopped up beeswax
5 drops of vitamin E oil
5 drops of peppermint oil
Take the bowl and put it on top of a saucepan with some water and heat over a medium heat and stir often to make sure everything mixes together good. Once all is mixed well you just pour it into the container you want to use and let it cool totally before putting it on your lips. That’s it.
Homemade Honey and Mint Lip Balm
Here’s another quick and easy one you can make in your microwave. This balm is the easiest and quickest to make of all of them.
Just take a teaspoon of petroleum jelly and put it in a bowl and microwave for just 30 seconds. Next add three drops of peppermint extract and mix good. Now take and add one teaspoon of honey and mix that up good. That’s all there is to it. Once you are done, put it in a container. Leave the lid off and let it sit overnight. The next day it’s ready to go and your lips will love you for it.
Homemade Mint Lemon Lip Balm
Here’s yet another healthy homemade balm made with petroleum jelly. Just take some petroleum jelly and microwave it for 30 seconds.
Take some fresh lemon juice, some lemon zest and some mint leaves or mint extract and add these items to the melted petroleum jelly. Take a toothpick and stir together very quickly. If you don’t do it fast enough then just microwave it for a few seconds to soften it up again. Once you are done mixing it pour into a container with a lid. Next put the container in your freezer for about two minutes and then put it in your fridge for another 15 minutes. You can then use it on your lips. Make sure to keep it in your fridge when you’re not using it and it’s probably a good idea to put a label on it so other people in your home know it’s not something to eat.
