I told you so.
I never give up. I’m back. I’m still blogging. And I’m still thinking about that long ramble I had with you guys last time. This time, I’m going to try my best to keep things shortish and sweetish, but, ok, if I still don’t get it right, then you’ll know I did at least try. What if I told you I really like this writing gig? You know, it’s like talking. While I’m writing, I’m actually having a conversation with you. How cool is that? Anyway, I’m determined to introduce myself to you properly.
I also want to fill you in with a little more clarity on the cool themes I have in mind for this blog.
I told you that my name is Mel. It’s really short for Melbourne and, yes, I named myself after the city which I love so much and am so proud of. I’m really quite a quirky and eccentric sort of girl when you think about it. It may seem so on the surface – perhaps I’m subconsciously keeping things, internal thoughts and subsequent actions, really, from my mates, and now you too, I suppose – I’m not all the action girl that I might make myself out to be sometimes.
I will most certainly be talking to you a lot about my great city. I might even be taking a journey all the way through Australia’s barren wilderness to that unusual city called Alice Springs. I’ve been there a few times and, being the odd person that I am, I really love that place too. I’ll be giving you some thoughts on what you could do with yourself should you happen to be in our neck of the woods. I won’t be able to squeeze in everything because, really girls, there’s just so much to in Melbourne. But not in Alice Springs, apparently.
Well, we will see.
I’m no expert but I do have a fetish for fashionable clothes. So, forgive my excitement every now and then when I spot something really cool to wear – like a nice lambs-wool, tightly knit jersey, imported from the UK – or a nice new pair of leather black boots with a cowboy heel to it – and rush off to go and buy it. Oops, I nearly forgot. The budget. Got to watch that. Burned my fingers badly in the past. Anyway, I seem to be more interested in beauty care products; what’s good for our skin and that sort of thing. I’m also starting to get into that organic way of doing things. It’s not just good for our skin and body, I happen to see what a slow and steady, but ultimately positive difference it’s making to our smallish city which, once upon a time, used to be really so dirty and polluted.
So, basically, in a nutshell, I really want to get cracking about things close to my heart and posting on subjects of personal interest to me. It’s just as well, I suppose. Me talking lyrically about a city that I love might be turning huge favours for both you and the city. Someday, you’ll pop around for a visit and the people of Melbourne will be so glad you came because you’ll be spending your hard-earned cash here.
